Waterford Airport is the main airport for south east Ireland and is situated about 6 miles south east of Waterford in Killowan, it is the hub for the Irish airline Air Arann which is the main airline using the airport. Over 100,000 passengers pass through the airport every year, many of them business travellers.

Although a small, compact airport, Waterford has all the facilities you would expect. For business passengers in particular there is complimentary internet available in the departure lounge and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal. All the passenger facilities at the airport are situated on the ground floor to assist passengers with limited mobility and there are dedicated disabled parking spaces right outside.
There are two cafes in the terminal, one landside and one skyside, both serving drinks and snacks to pass the time whilst in the airport. Car hire companies are represented in the arrivals area. If you need accommodation close to Waterford Airport, the Woodlands Hotel and Leisure Centre is just a 15 minute drive away or alternatively there are numerous hotels and guest houses in Waterford City itself.

Waterford is probably best known for it's cut glass, the world famous Waterford Crystal is made here, it's visitor centre houses the largest collection of Waterford Crystal in the world and there are guided tours to show you every aspect of it's production. Waterford is known to be the oldest city in Ireland and the Waterford Museum of Treasures tells the story of the city from Viking times to 1970. There is a strong maritime tradition in Waterford and the city plays host to the Tall Ship's Race with over half a million people enjoying the spectacle in 2011.
Outside the city in County Waterford you will find over 90 miles of coastline with 49 different beaches, spread over two peninsulas. Both are very different with the coast to the south west being wild and rugged, whilst the coast to the east is much calmer and contains the seaside resort of Dunmore East. Further inland, the scenery is dominated by the mountain ranges of Comeragh and Monavullagh, the mountain resort of Ballymacarby provides excellent leisure facilities here with the Nire Valley having walking tracks for walkers of every level of experience.
For those wishing to explore the area a little more leisurely there are several planned drives around Waterford taking in various local sights, one in particular explores the area to the south west, travelling from Waterford to Dungarvan along the “Copper Coast” and returning via Lismore and Ballyduff where there is excellent fishing for salmon and sea trout.
